Kali Durga
Uma Paravati Anandamayi
A devotional chant to the goddess Durga and her other self in the form of Kali. In this chant we ask these powerful goddesses to destroy the illusion of ego and remove all obstacles and limitations in the way of self-realization.
Kali is considered the universal mother of time and timelessness and the eternal witness of all phenomena.
Durga is the inscrutible one and she who is difficult to comprehend.
The statues and paintings of these goddesses were in all the temples I visited while traveling around India. I was most taken by a ferocious form of Kali with tongue hanging out, eyes bulging and wearing a necklace of bloody skulls. Her power to destroy my ego of self importance resonated at a very deep level.
