Om Namo Bhagavate
"Thy will be done" I first heard this mantra chanted at Kripalu Center in 1985. It was considered our guru mantra. My japa consisted of this mantra alone and I was dedicated to offering my suffering and difficulties over to the guru. When I traveled around India alone in 1993 this chant came wafting from one of the Shiva temples and I was drawn in to chant as if I were greeting and old friend. I was disappointed when the brahman told me it was a chant to Krishna. My first lesson in sanskrit translation and the liberties seekers take. Another translation is "Dear Lord, I respectfully worship you through your son and image, Krishna of Vasudeva." |
